The court upheld the sentence against those who embezzled assets from the Dovzhenko Film Studio
The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the position of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and upheld the August 14, 2025, verdict against T. Parkhomenko and the former CEO of a private company, M. Minchuk.
The former engineer was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison with the confiscation of half of his property, and the company director was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months in prison with the confiscation of all his property for embezzlement.
Both convicts are also barred for three years from holding positions involving organizational, managerial, administrative, or economic functions. The appellate court’s ruling takes effect immediately upon pronouncement and may be appealed directly to the Supreme Court within three months.
As a reminder, fraud was uncovered in the procurement of equipment at the Dovzhenko Film Studio. The former chief engineer of the Oleksandr Dovzhenko Film Studio and the director of a private company are suspected of embezzling over 4.4 million hryvnias.
On August 14, 2025, a panel of judges at the High Anti-Corruption Court handed down a verdict against the former chief engineer of the state-owned enterprise “Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studio” and the CEO of a private company. The officials were found guilty of embezzling over 4.4 million hryvnias from the state-owned enterprise.
