In the Cherkasy region, a Russian citizen was sentenced to 8 years in prison for financing the Russian army

Following the public prosecution by prosecutors from the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the court handed down a verdict against a citizen of the Russian Federation who was accused of financing actions aimed at altering the territorial boundaries or state border of Ukraine.

Prosecutors proved in court that during Russia’s full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine, the woman was in the Russian Federation and used social media and messaging apps to organize fundraising in support of Russian military units.

The Russian citizen was sentenced to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Specifically, through her own Telegram channel and a page on the social network “VKontakte,” she shared posts calling on Russian citizens to make monetary contributions and donations to support the Russian military.

The funds raised were used to provide financial and material support to members of Russian armed forces. The woman reported on the results of the fundraising on social media, posting photos and videos, including some from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

Her actions were classified under Part 3 of Article 110-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Pursuant to the court’s verdict, the Russian citizen was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment, with confiscation of property and a 3-year ban on holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities.

A special pre-trial investigation and operational support in the criminal proceedings were conducted by officers of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Cherkasy region under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The court’s verdict will become final after the appeal period expires, provided no appeal is filed.

This was reported by the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

Earlier, a female officer of the General Staff was detained for accepting a bribe of 14,000 dollars.
