Air quality has deteriorated in six communities in the Kyiv region
Air quality has temporarily deteriorated in six towns in the Kyiv region due to elevated levels of fine particulate matter. These towns are Ivankiv, Vyshneve, Boyarka, Vasylkiv, Obukhiv, and Brovary.
Experts have confirmed that the temporary deterioration in air quality is specifically due to fine particulate matter.
Prolonged exposure to these particles can cause breathing difficulties. Children, older adults, and people with heightened sensitivity to such factors may be particularly susceptible to irritation.
In light of this, residents of these six towns are advised to take certain precautions until the situation improves.
“Prolonged exposure to such dust can cause breathing difficulties, especially in children, older adults, and those who are sensitive to irritants. Therefore, experts advise keeping windows closed, avoiding spending too much time outdoors, and drinking plenty of water until the situation improves. If you have an air purifier at home, set it to the highest setting,” the statement reads.
Consequently, until air quality returns to normal, residents of Ivankiv, Vyshneve, Boyarka, Vasylkiv, Obukhiv, and Brovary are advised to spend less time outdoors and keep their windows closed.
At the same time, no exceedances of permissible levels of chemical and biological substances in the ambient air were detected in other settlements of the Kyiv region.
It is also noted that the level of gamma radiation in the region corresponds to natural background levels.
Therefore, the deterioration in air quality is currently localized and is associated with fine particulate matter.
This was reported by the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.
On the morning of October 7, air quality in Kyiv varied significantly depending on the district. On the left bank, harmful pollution levels of up to 161 on the Air Quality Index (AQI) were recorded, while in other parts of the capital, levels remained moderate.
