Air pollution caused by fine particulate matter was detected in the Kyiv region
Air quality has temporarily deteriorated in the Obukhiv District of Kyiv Oblast. Experts identified fine particulate matter as the main pollutant. Residents of the region were urged to take precautionary measures while air quality remains poor.
Monitoring Results
According to average daily readings from monitoring stations, the concentration of fine particulate matter is currently at a moderate level. For people sensitive to irritants, this may cause slight discomfort when breathing.
Experts recommend keeping windows closed until the situation returns to normal, minimizing time spent outdoors whenever possible, and drinking plenty of water. If you have an air purifier, they recommend setting it to maximum power.
Where the situation may change
Air quality in the Boryspil district may also deteriorate due to the effects of enemy attacks. However, gamma radiation levels in the Kyiv region correspond to natural background radiation.
As of September 3, air quality monitoring is being conducted at 15 observation points. They are located in Brovary, Bila Tserkva, Boryspil, Pereyaslav, Vyshhorod, Boyarka, Obukhiv, Kaharlyk, Bohuslav, Vasylkiv, Irpin, Vyshneve, the towns of Ivankiv and Velyka Dymerka, as well as in the village of Pidhirtsi in the Obukhiv district.
However, the observation post in Uzyn is temporarily out of service due to a power outage.
