Brand-name clothing and shoes from Italy worth 2 million hryvnias were seized at the border

At the “Shehyni–Medyka” border crossing, customs officers, working together with border guards, discovered a shipment of undeclared brand-name clothing and footwear in a Mercedes-Benz vehicle. The estimated value of the seized goods is approximately 2 million hryvnias.

During an inspection of the vehicle, law enforcement officers found more than 30 items of brand-name clothing and footwear that the driver had attempted to bring into Ukraine without proper declaration. An investigation into the violation of customs regulations is ongoing.

The driver was identified as a 37-year-old resident of Bukovina. The Ukrainian national had chosen the “green corridor” lane.

During an inspection of the trunk, 24 items of clothing were found bearing labels from brands such as GIVENCHY, TOM FORD, NINA RICCI, BALENCIAGA, and others. There were also seven pairs of shoes bearing the CELINE, KHAITE, and CHANEL labels.

During questioning, the Chernivtsi resident stated that he was transporting the two suitcases at the request of an acquaintance, who had assured him that they contained only personal belongings, according to the report.

A report has already been filed in accordance with Part 2 of Article 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.

The Facebook page of the 7th Carpathian Border Guard Detachment reported that the man was transporting the goods from Italy to Chernivtsi. He planned to subsequently send them by mail to Kyiv.

Specifically, the undeclared goods were seized and transferred to a customs warehouse.

This was reported by the Lviv Customs Office.
