A criminal organization that issued false certificates of unfitness for military service was uncovered in the Lviv region
In the Lviv region, the National Police uncovered a criminal organization whose members helped arrange fake certificates of unfitness for military service. According to the investigation, the 49-year-old organizer recruited six other local residents into the scheme, assigning them various roles—ranging from finding clients to handling paperwork and transferring funds.
In addition, using their personal connections, the perpetrators influenced officials at the Medical Examination Commission to make decisions in their favor. The money obtained illegally was distributed among the group members according to their roles.
Law enforcement documented several instances of the criminal organization’s activities. In one instance, a servicemember was “admitted” for inpatient treatment. Subsequently, the documentation of this “treatment” was to serve as the basis for declaring the man unfit for military service, discharging him from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and facilitating his departure from Ukraine. The perpetrators priced their “services” at between $7,000 and $20,000.
On September 3, police, together with SBU officers and with the support of a special-purpose police battalion, conducted more than 60 searches at the suspects’ residences, according to the National Police.
