In the Lviv region, a man who threw a grenade at a soldier was sentenced to prison
A 48-year-old resident of Brody, Lviv Oblast, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the attempted murder of a 40-year-old soldier. During the altercation, the man threw a grenade at the soldier, but thanks to his training, the soldier managed to take cover before the explosion.
According to the investigation, the incident occurred in November 2025.
The 48-year-old man, while intoxicated, went to the soldier’s home, where the soldier was on leave at the time.
In the yard, an argument broke out between the men over borrowed construction equipment, which the defendant, according to the investigation, refused to return.
When the servicemember decided to leave to end the conflict, the man pulled a grenade from his pants pocket, pulled the pin, and threw it in his direction.
As noted by the prosecutor’s office, thanks to his military training, the victim managed to jump out of the way and take cover behind an earthen embankment.
The grenade exploded, but the soldier was not injured. He then called the police.
The court found the Brody resident guilty of attempted murder committed in a manner dangerous to the lives of many people, as well as of illegal handling of explosive devices.
For the aggregate of the offenses committed, the man was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
However, the verdict is not yet final: it will become legally binding after the appeal period expires, provided it is not appealed.

In the Dnipro district of Kyiv, a dispute between a car driver and a cyclist escalated into death threats. The 23-year-old driver pulled out an object resembling a grenade and began to intimidate the other road user with it.
