Utility rates will rise sharply in the occupied Luhansk region
Starting October 1, the fee for solid waste collection will increase in the temporarily occupied Luhansk region. The Russian occupation authorities will raise the fee by 50% immediately, and some residents have been threatened with the cutoff of gas supplies.
“Starting October 1, the fee for solid waste collection will increase in the so-called ‘LPR.’ Instead of gradual measures, the occupiers have decided to implement a sharp price hike—50%—all at once. This will apply to both residents of apartment buildings and owners of private homes,” wrote Oleksiy Kharchenko, head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration.
According to him, the occupying authorities have already scheduled the next rate adjustment for early 2027.
At the same time, timely payment of utility bills does not guarantee residents of occupied Luhansk region uninterrupted access to these services. In particular, residents of apartment buildings are being threatened with the suspension of gas supply if they do not sign a contract for equipment maintenance.
“In the absence of such a contract, the supplier will unilaterally suspend the supply of natural gas to a specific address,” added the head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration.
Earlier, Energoatom reported that the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was in a critical condition.
Prior to that, Energoatom reported equipment degradation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP due to 14 blackouts this year.
The IAEA reported a local ceasefire to allow for repairs at the Zaporizhzhia NPP in Ukraine.
A drone exploded near the Zaporizhzhia NPP: one person was killed and 15 were injured.
