In the Poltava region, a father has been charged with the brutal murder of his three-year-old son
In the Poltava region, law enforcement officials have notified a man that he is under suspicion of murdering his own three-year-old son. The tragedy occurred on April 21 in one of the region’s villages.
This was reported by the Poltava Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, the family woke up around 5:00 a.m. The man told his wife to rest and went to the kitchen with the child. There, according to investigators, he stabbed the boy in the back, then submerged him in a bathtub filled with water and stabbed him several more times.
“After making sure the child was not breathing, the father placed the body in a backpack along with a can of gasoline and a kitchen spatula. He left the house and headed for the forest. In the thicket, he used the spatula to dig a hole, placed the backpack with the dead child inside, doused it with gasoline, and set it on fire. He covered the remains with sand and placed a log on top,” the prosecutor’s office reported.
The 30-year-old man was detained that same day. During questioning, he explained his actions by citing jealousy toward his son, stating that after the child’s birth, his wife had been paying more attention to the baby.
A pre-trial investigation is currently underway. The suspect faces severe punishment in accordance with the law.
