Hunting has been permitted on a limited basis in the Poltava region during the war

The Poltava Regional Defense Council has authorized hunting within the region from October 1 through December 31, 2026, inclusive. According to the adopted decision, hunting trips will be permitted exclusively on weekends—every Saturday and Sunday—provided that the established approval procedures are followed.

To conduct hunting, land users of all forms of ownership are required to coordinate schedules, travel routes, and lists of participants in advance with district military administrations, National Police units, and the Poltava Regional Department of the Military Law Enforcement Service.

Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a general ban on hunting has been in effect under martial law; however, in December 2025, temporary permits were already being issued in the region to select groups of hunters to regulate the populations of red foxes and wild boars.

This was reported by the Poltava Regional State Administration.
