In Vinnytsia Oblast, a 17-year-old motorcyclist struck a child at a crosswalk

A traffic accident involving a minor riding a Geon motorcycle and an 8-year-old child occurred in the village of Sutysky, Vinnytsia District.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Vinnytsia Oblast.

According to preliminary data, the 17-year-old driver struck the boy, who was riding a bicycle across an unregulated crosswalk.

“The accident occurred on April 26; the child was hospitalized. Blood samples were taken from the driver for testing,” the police reported.

A criminal case has been opened regarding the accident under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—violation of traffic safety rules. The penalty under this article provides for up to three years of restricted freedom and deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.

Prior to this, the police launched an investigation into a major traffic accident that occurred on April 24 at around 1:00 p.m. on Vyacheslav Chornovil Street in the city of Vyshneve.

As a reminder, on April 25 in Kyiv on Sobornosti Avenue, a traffic accident occurred after a wheel fell off one of the cars while it was moving. 

Unstable spring weather continues in Ukraine, with rain, strong winds, and sharp temperature swings. In the coming days, the country is expected to experience another cold snap, with wet snow in some areas.
