In Volyn, a former director of a road construction company has been charged with embezzling more than ₴2 million
The former director of the State Enterprise “Local Road Service in Volyn Oblast” has been notified that she is suspected of embezzling budget funds on an exceptionally large scale.
According to the investigation, the official entered into a contract with a private company, agreed to have work performed at inflated prices, and facilitated the preparation of land-use planning documentation to establish the boundaries of land plots within the right-of-way of local roads in Volyn.
As a result, according to the prosecutor’s office, more than 2 million hryvnias in budget funds were embezzled.
The actions are classified under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation of property through abuse of official position on an exceptionally large scale).
The court imposed house arrest as a preventive measure on the suspect.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators from the Main Department of the National Police in Volyn Oblast, with operational support provided by the Regional Operational Support Unit of the National Police’s Operational Support Directorate.
The prosecutor’s office emphasized that, in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court and a conviction is handed down.

In addition, the head of one of the departments of the Lutsk City Council has been notified of suspicion of embezzlement of budget funds on an especially large scale.
Earlier, the Supreme Court upheld the position of prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General and upheld the sentence against the former director of a vocational high school in the Khmelnytskyi region. She was convicted of embezzling nearly 1 million hryvnias in budget funds.
The former head of the Rivne Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support will stand trial for negligence that caused the state losses totaling more than 830 thousand hryvnias during the procurement of vehicles for the army.
