In Zakarpattia, authorities foiled an attempt to smuggle brand-name perfumes worth over 500,000 hryvnias

At the "Astey" customs post of the Transcarpathian Customs Office, located on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, authorities thwarted an attempt to illegally import a large shipment of luxury perfumes.

The undeclared goods, weighing a total of 52 kg, were being transported into Ukraine in a truck carrying consolidated cargo. The estimated value of the seized foreign-made products exceeds 500,000 hryvnias.

According to the documents the driver provided for customs inspection, the vehicle was supposed to contain only clothing and accessories. However, during a thorough customs inspection of the truck, which included unloading its contents, inspectors discovered the hidden perfumes. In total, law enforcement officers counted nearly 170 packages of eau de toilette and perfume from well-known global brands, including “Gucci,” “Hermès,” “Marc-Antoine BARROIS,” “Yves Saint Laurent,” and “Giorgio Armani.”

Consequently, a report was filed against the driver for violating customs regulations under Part 2 of Article 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. The undeclared brand-name perfumes were temporarily seized pending a final decision in the case and the imposition of appropriate legal sanctions.

This was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
