A Russian agent who was passing information about the Ukrainian Armed Forces via a company's security cameras was exposed in the Zaporizhzhia region
The Security Service of Ukraine detained a woman in the Zaporizhzhia region who, according to the investigation, was working for Russian military intelligence (the GRU). The suspect turned out to be an accountant at a local agricultural enterprise.
According to investigators, the woman planned to provide Russian intelligence services with remote access to surveillance cameras installed on the facade of the enterprise, located approximately 10 km from the front line.
The company’s cameras broadcasted footage of one of the roads that the Ukrainian Defense Forces use to transport military cargo to the front lines. This would have allowed the Russian side to track the movements of Ukrainian units in real time and plan attacks.
According to the SBU, Russian intelligence planned to use the obtained video data to coordinate combined attacks on Ukrainian military positions.
The arrest took place while the suspect was preparing to transmit passwords for remote access to the video surveillance system to the Russian side.
The SBU noted that over the course of three months, they conducted an operational investigation and documented the activities of the spy network, particularly the suspect’s contacts. According to the investigation, her contact was her son, who is abroad and is allegedly linked to the Russian GRU.
Through him, according to law enforcement officials, the woman was recruited to gather intelligence on Ukrainian troops.

The investigation established that the suspect had full access to the external video surveillance system and proposed using it as so-called “video traps.” In addition, she allegedly surveyed the area on her own, recording the geolocations of Ukrainian military units.
During searches, her mobile devices and rough notes were seized, which, according to the investigation, confirm her activities.
The woman has been notified of charges under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed by a group of persons acting in concert under martial law).
The suspect is being held in custody without the right to bail. She faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Law enforcement officials also notified her son, who is currently in hiding abroad, of the charges against him.
Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a man suspected of coordinating a Russian missile and drone attack on Dnipro on the night of June 2.
The Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with the National Police, exposed a resident of the Kharkiv region who collaborated with Russian occupiers during the capture of the Kupianskyi district in 2022.
