In Zhytomyr Oblast, a car fell into a pond—four people were killed
A fatal traffic accident occurred in the village of Bezhiv in Zhytomyr Oblast. A passenger car veered into a body of water and overturned. The driver and three passengers were killed in the accident.
This was reported with reference to the Main Directorate of the National Police in Zhytomyr Oblast.
“Preliminary findings indicate that on May 13 at approximately 7:00 a.m. in the village of Bezhiv in the Chernyakhiv district, the driver of a VAZ-2115 lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the roadway and overturn into a pond,” the police statement reads.
It is reported that rescue workers and an investigative team were on the scene. Law enforcement officials are determining all the circumstances and causes of the accident, as well as the identities of the deceased.
Police investigators have already launched a pre-trial investigation under the article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of traffic safety rules or transport operation rules by persons driving vehicles, resulting in the death of several people). The article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years.
