A $38 million potato processing plant will be built in the Zhytomyr region
Adelaide plans to build a modern potato processing plant in the Zhytomyr region. The total cost of the investment project is $38 million; the company is prepared to finance half of this amount with its own funds and plans to raise an additional $19 million from investors through a blended financing structure.
The new facility is planned to be located on the site of the company’s existing farm in the Bronikivska community of the Zhytomyr region.
Once operational, the plant will be able to process up to 300 metric tons of potatoes per day and produce up to 20,000 metric tons of finished and semi-finished potato products annually.
The project involves the production of peeled, vacuum-packed, and heat-treated potatoes. To this end, modern food industry technologies will be used, including vacuum packaging and pasteurization.
The main consumers of the products are expected to be food industry enterprises, HoReCa establishments, catering companies, and retail chains. In addition to the Ukrainian market, the company plans to export its products to countries in the European Union, the Balkans, the Middle East, the Caucasus, and Central Asia.
The preparatory phase of the project has already been completed. The company has launched an irrigation system covering 600 hectares, which produces approximately 29,000 metric tons of potatoes annually, and has also commissioned lines for washing, sorting, and vacuum-packing the produce.
Construction of the plant is scheduled for 2027–2028, and production is expected to begin in 2028.
Once it reaches full capacity, the company forecasts annual revenue of $40 million. The expected payback period for the project is 5.5 years, and the internal rate of return (IRR) is 41%.
