The Strawberry Moon will shine over Ukraine tonight
On the night of Tuesday, June 30, residents of Ukraine will be able to observe another full moon, known as the Strawberry Moon. The exact peak of the full moon will occur at 2:58 a.m. Kyiv time on the night of June 29–30.
The name of this astronomical phenomenon stems from the ancient traditions of Native American peoples and is directly linked to the season when wild strawberries ripen and are harvested.
This full moon will be the second smallest in apparent size in 2026, as it will be at a considerable distance from our planet. The Moon will come within 406,267 kilometers of Earth, which is only 102 kilometers closer than during the previous full moon on May 31, when a Blue Moon was observed at a distance of 406,369 kilometers. Astronomers predict the next full moon, known as the Deer Moon, will occur on July 29.

The Native Americans of North America, who popularized the tradition of giving various names to full moons, called the June full moon the “Strawberry Moon” not because of its color, but because it usually coincided with the strawberry harvest season.
