The Odessa Port Plant will once again be put up for privatization
The State Property Fund of Ukraine plans to put the Odesa Port Plant up for sale again this summer. Four potential investors have already expressed interest in the asset.
Dmytro Natalukha, head of the State Property Fund, told The New York Times about this.
According to him, four investors have expressed interest in the enterprise so far—three from the West and one from the Middle East. They have already signed non-disclosure agreements to familiarize themselves with the privatization terms in greater detail.
Natalukha also expressed the view that, given the full-scale war, a foreign investor with the “right flag” could become the buyer, which could protect the enterprise from Russian attacks.
The head of the State Property Fund added that OPZ could become an “incredibly interesting asset,” albeit a complex one.
“Let’s be honest, it’s a complex asset. But it also offers many opportunities… I think that if the plant is sold, it will be a historic event… It will send a powerful signal both within the country—to the authorities and the government—and beyond its borders, to foreign investors,” Natalukha noted.
