The Office of the President of Ukraine has not registered an online petition calling for the dismissal of National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov.
This was reported by the Anti-Corruption Action Center.
According to the organization, the petition was submitted by Anti-Corruption Action Center Executive Director Daria Kalenyuk; however, in its response, the Office of the President stated that the petition allegedly does not meet the established requirements and therefore will not be made public.
The Anti-Corruption Center stated that it considers this decision a deliberate disregard of the president’s constitutional powers, since it is the head of state who appoints and dismisses the NSDC secretary.
The organization also reported that it had sent an additional request to the Office of the President demanding an explanation for the refusal.
NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov is appearing as a witness in a case involving procurements related to the financing of Fire Point, missile programs, and body armor.
As a reminder, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak released new recordings of conversations between sanctioned businessman Timur Mindich and current NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov, in which they discussed new appointments in the government.
In addition, it is known that Mindich and Umerov consulted on where to direct funds from “Project 23.”
