Oschadbank has notified some of its customers about a card replacement

UA.NEWS 28 May 2026 23:56
Oschadbank has notified some of its customers about a card replacement

Oschadbank has extended the validity of its cards until the end of 2026, but has warned that some “dormant” or technically obsolete cards will not be automatically renewed. Their holders will have to apply for a reissue themselves; otherwise, their accounts may be blocked, the bank’s press service emphasizes.

The state-owned Oschadbank has decided to automatically extend the validity of payment cards that were set to expire in February 2022, effectively keeping them active until at least December 31, 2026. Therefore, most customers do not need to take any action, as the system continues to process transactions without requiring a visit to a branch.

At the same time, the bank notes that there are exceptions to this rule, and not all cards are subject to automatic renewal, as some accounts do not meet internal security requirements or show signs of prolonged inactivity.

So-called “dormant” cards that have not been used since the beginning of 2025 are at risk of being blocked, as are accounts with a zero balance or a negative balance, including debts or outstanding obligations to the bank. The financial institution advises customers to carefully check their card’s expiration date and transaction history in the mobile app or via online banking, as the system may simply fail to renew the card automatically if it has not been used for an extended period.

In such cases, the bank offers a standard reissuance procedure, which can be arranged via the “Mobile Oschad” app, the contact center, or at a branch, with most operations available remotely without queues or visits.

At the same time, for customers whose cards have been successfully renewed by the system, nothing changes, and they can continue to use all the usual functions, including in-store payments, cash withdrawals, online purchases, and receiving social benefits, even if a different expiration date is printed on the card.

The Supervisory Board of the state-owned Oschadbank has decided to officially suspend Oleg Strynzhu, Deputy Chairman of the Board, who headed the institution’s finance division (CFO), from his position. The suspension was carried out in accordance with a ruling by an investigating judge of the Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv.
