The Pension Fund of Ukraine has clarified which military pensioners are eligible for a pension supplement

Certain military pensioners in Ukraine may receive a monthly pension supplement of 1,297.5 UAH under certain conditions. The Pension Fund of Ukraine explained that this supplement is intended for military pensioners who are not working and who support family members who are unable to work. The payment is provided as additional financial support for this category of pension recipients.

This was reported by the Judicial and Legal Gazette.

The following are eligible for the supplement:

  • unemployed military pensioners (excluding those who served on a fixed-term basis) from the ranks of privates, sergeants, senior non-commissioned officers, and officers;
  • persons receiving a pension for length of service or disability.

The supplement is set at 50 percent of the subsistence minimum for persons who have lost their ability to work for each non-working family member. As of January 1, 2026, this subsistence minimum is 2,595 hryvnias; therefore, the amount of the supplement per person is 1,297.50 hryvnias. At the same time, the total amount of the supplement, in accordance with current legislation, is not limited by the number of dependents and may be higher.

The supplement is granted only to those family members who do not receive pension payments from the solidarity-based system of compulsory state pension insurance or state social assistance for persons not entitled to a pension; if a person is eligible for a pension, social assistance, and the supplement at the same time, they must choose one of the payment types; and if there are several pensioners in the family, the supplement for one non-working family member may be granted to only one of them by mutual agreement.

Required documents for application:

  • passport and identification code;
  • documents confirming family ties with the disabled family member;
  • certificates of support and cohabitation;
  • documents confirming the pensioner’s lack of employment (in the absence of official confirmation, a statement explaining the circumstances of termination of employment or service may be submitted).

Documents can be submitted online via the Pension Fund of Ukraine’s electronic services portal or in person at a PFU branch where the pension is received.

The procedure for granting the supplement is determined by the Law of Ukraine “On Pension Provision for Persons Discharged from Military Service and Certain Other Persons.” The specific list of non-working family members eligible for the supplement is established by subparagraphs “a” through “e” of Article 30 of the Law of Ukraine dated April 9, 1992

Pension funding for Ukrainianswas increased in April.

Ukrainians’ attitudes toward the May holidays have changed significantly in recent years. Labor Day on May 1 and Victory Day on May 9 are no longer among the most important holidays for most citizens.

Pensionersmust complete the identification process by April 1 to continue receiving their payments.
