Near Kyiv, a 13-year-old girl drowned in a body of water while trying to retrieve a ball
A 13-year-old girl died in the village of Bohdanivka in the Kyiv region after drowning in an artificial pond while trying to retrieve a ball. The police have launched an investigation into the tragedy.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred on July 26 at approximately 5:21 p.m. Six children were playing volleyball when the ball landed in the artificial pond.
The 13-year-old girl decided to retrieve it from the water and jumped into the pond. Law enforcement officials determined that the child could not swim and drowned.
Police and medical personnel arrived at the scene. Despite resuscitation efforts, they were unable to save the girl.
Investigators have launched a pre-trial investigation into this incident under paragraph 2, part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Law enforcement officials are determining all the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
