The tax authority has revoked more than 5,000 alcohol and tobacco licenses since the beginning of the year
In the first five months of 2026, the State Tax Service revoked more than 5,200 licenses due to violations of regulations governing the production and sale of alcohol and tobacco products.
This was announced by Lesya Karnaukh, acting head of the State Tax Service.
According to her, the tax service has stepped up its fight against schemes involving the covert production of excise goods, in which part of the merchandise is sold off the books for cash.
The State Tax Service is also implementing the European Track and Trace system, which will allow tracking the path of every pack of cigarettes or bottle of alcohol from production to final sale.
According to the tax service’s estimates, the share of the illegal tobacco market in Ukraine stands at 17.6%, which resulted in a revenue shortfall of approximately 26.5 billion hryvnias for the budget last year alone.

Earlier, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) expanded the list of suspects in the corruption case involving the Supreme Court.
NABU explained how decisions regarding charges against suspects are made.
