Police are investigating the death of a man following his stay at a rehabilitation center in Zakarpattia
Police in Zakarpattia Oblast confirmed that a man had been hospitalized with injuries after staying at one of the district recruitment and social support centers. The man later died in the hospital.
According to law enforcement officials, on June 11, medical staff at the Volovets District Hospital notified the police about the admission of a patient with broken ribs and a chest injury. Later, a report was received regarding his death.
A criminal investigation has been opened into the incident under the article on intentional homicide. A comprehensive forensic medical examination is currently underway to determine the cause of death and all the circumstances of the incident.
Meanwhile, a representative of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights in Zakarpattia Oblast announced the launch of an investigation into reports of the man’s possible beating following his mobilization and stay at the Volovets Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support. Corresponding requests have been sent to the State Bureau of Investigation, the Military Law Enforcement Service, the police, and the specialized prosecutor’s office for defense matters.
Earlier, media reports indicated that the man may have died as a result of beatings following his detention at the train station in Volovets. There is currently no official comment from the Transcarpathian Regional Military Registration and Enlistment Office.
