Deliveries of interceptor drones to the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2026 doubled compared to the entire year of 2025
Since the beginning of 2026, the Ukrainian military has received twice as many interceptor drones as it did in all of 2025.
Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced the systematic expansion of supplies of “light” air defense systems.
According to the minister, interceptor drones have become a technologically advanced and cost-effective response to threats from Russia. These systems are hundreds of times cheaper than anti-aircraft missiles and dozens of times cheaper than the “Shaheds” themselves, allowing for the efficient use of the defense budget. In March 2026 alone, these drones destroyed over 33,000 enemy drones of various types.
Several channels are used to scale up production: direct contracts with the Defense Procurement Agency, the “Army of Drones.Bonus” program, and the DOT-Chain Defense digital platform. In addition, a separate “small” air defense command has been established within the Air Force for the first time. The use of interceptor drones significantly reduces the load on conventional air defense systems, allowing scarce missiles to be focused on intercepting Russian cruise and ballistic targets.
