Ukraine's air defense forces shot down more than 90% of enemy drones in March
Throughout March 2026, Ukraine’s air defense system demonstrated exceptional effectiveness in repelling massive attacks by Russian invaders.
According to official data from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, air defenders managed to intercept the vast majority of enemy air targets.
The enemy continued to employ tactics aimed at exhausting Ukrainian capabilities, combining missile and drone strikes launched in multiple waves.
In total, approximately 6,600 aerial targets were recorded throughout March, indicating a significant increase in the intensity of attacks compared to February.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Defense, out of 6,463 Shahed-type drones and other models launched, air defense forces neutralized 5,833 units.
This accounts for 90.25% of the total number of drones that Russia directed at civilian cities and critical infrastructure.
The situation with missile attacks also remained tense, but Ukrainian anti-aircraft units achieved a commendable result.
Of the 138 recorded missiles, 102 targets were destroyed, corresponding to an effectiveness rate of nearly 74% in this weapons category.
The overall interception rate for all types of aerial targets in March was 89.9%.
As a reminder, air defense forces shot down 24 Kh-101 cruise missiles and 2 Iskander-K missiles during a massive attack.
Additionally, as a result of a massive drone attack on Odesa on March 28, the death toll rose to four.
Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops attacked four border communities in the Chernihiv region with FPV drones, causing significant damage and resulting in deaths and injuries.
