In Pavlohrad, a 21-year-old driver under the influence of alcohol struck two young women and fled the scene of the accident.
This was reported by the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The accident occurred in the evening: the driver was performing dangerous maneuvers at high speed, lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into a bench where the girls were sitting.
One of the victims, a 19-year-old woman, suffered severe injuries and was hospitalized in intensive care, unconscious.
After the collision, the driver fled, leaving the victim without assistance, but he was later apprehended.
The court ordered the suspect to be held in custody as a preventive measure.
He is charged with driving under the influence, which caused serious bodily injury—a crime punishable by up to 8 years in prison.
As a reminder, eight people were injured in a traffic accident in the Chernihiv region.
Additionally, in Rivne region, road workers were charged in connection with a traffic accident that left three people dead.
