Konovalets' ashes were transported to Ukraine
The ashes of Yevhen Konovalets, a colonel in the Army of the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the first leader of the OUN, were brought to Ukraine.
He was received on his native soil with full state and military honors. The day before, on August 11, Konovalets’ remains were exhumed at the Crossways Cemetery in Rotterdam.
In July, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a decision to reburial Yevhen Konovalets in Ukraine.
Upon arrival, the remains will undergo a series of scientific examinations. Konovalets will subsequently be reburied at the National Military Memorial Cemetery.
The farewell ceremony will take place at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Kyiv.

As a reminder, the National Military Memorial Cemetery was the site of the historic reburial of Colonel Andriy Melnyk of the Army of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, Head of the OUN, and his wife, Sofia Fedak-Melnyk.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted Bill No. 15360, “On the Ukrainian National Pantheon,” to the Verkhovna Rada. The head of state officially announced this initiative on June 28 at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra during his traditional address on the occasion of Ukraine’s Constitution Day.
