Russia attacked energy facilities in five regions of Ukraine

Massive missile and drone strikes by Russian occupiers on critical infrastructure have left consumers without power in five regions of Ukraine.

As of the morning of April 6, 2026, residents of the Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv regions remain without power.

The national energy company Ukrenergo reports that emergency repair crews are working around the clock in an intensified mode.

Repair work is continuing nonstop wherever the current security situation at the sites of the strikes allows.

“Over the past 24 hours and today, Russian forces have continued missile and drone attacks on energy infrastructure facilities,” the agency officially confirmed.

This targeted terror against the power grid is forcing specialists to quickly reallocate resources to stabilize the grid.

Energy officials are recording a gradual increase in electricity consumption among the population. Specifically, at 9:30 a.m. today, the load was 3.3% higher than at the same time last Wednesday, April 3.

This trend is due to the start of the workweek and unfavorable weather conditions. Cloud cover significantly reduces the efficiency of private solar power plants, forcing households to rely more on the general power grid.

To maintain balance in the system, Ukrenergo is urging citizens to consume resources responsibly. Experts advise turning on high-power appliances, such as washing machines or water heaters, primarily during daytime hours—from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

It is during this time that solar generation is most efficient, allowing demand to be met without overloading thermal power plants.

A rational approach by consumers helps energy providers carry out repairs on damaged sections more quickly.

A special request concerns the evening peak in consumption, which occurs between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM. Minimizing the use of energy-intensive appliances in the evening is critically important for preventing emergency blackouts in regions with power shortages.

As a reminder, the regulator will review the price caps in the electricity market.

Additionally, Russians attacked an energy facility in the Chernihiv region and cut power to two regions.
