The SBU has announced new charges against Yevgeny Murayev for spreading Russian propaganda
The Security Service of Ukraine has gathered new evidence regarding the subversive activities of Yevhen Muraiev, a former member of parliament and leader of the banned party “Nashi.”
An expert analysis confirmed that the politician systematically used media resources to justify Russian aggression and called on Ukrainians to surrender.
Investigators established that Murayev actively used the “Nashi” TV channel, which he controlled, as a tool for spreading Kremlin disinformation.
Even while outside Ukraine, the suspect continued his media activities aimed at destabilizing the socio-political situation within the country.
In a recent interview he gave while abroad, the politician openly referred to Russia’s full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine as an “internal civil conflict.”
Such statements fully align with Moscow’s narrative and are intended to whitewash the actions of the occupying forces.
In addition to distorting the nature of the war, the former MP spread false information about the state of affairs in the country and called on citizens to lay down their arms before the Russian invaders.
He also publicly justified the temporary seizure of parts of Ukrainian territory by Russian invaders.
A special linguistic analysis initiated by the SBU officially confirmed the facts of the suspect’s subversive activities in favor of the aggressor country.
Based on these findings, Murayev was notified in absentia of a new charge under the article on justifying the Russian Federation’s armed aggression.
Currently, Yevgeniy Murayev is already officially wanted on other serious charges, including treason and incitement of ethnic hatred.
For the totality of the crimes committed, he faces up to 15 years in prison with full confiscation of property.
