A high school student from Transcarpathia won a gold medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad

Roman Kozak, a 10th-grader from Zakarpattia, won a gold medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad, which was held in Uzbekistan. The Ukrainian student prevailed among 360 participants from more than 90 countries and unfurled the Ukrainian flag during the awards ceremony.

The young chemist is a 10th-grade student at the Holyatyn Lyceum in Transcarpathia. Along with him, three other students represented Ukraine at this prestigious international competition. Myroslav Biletskyi, head of the Transcarpathian Regional Military Administration, announced Roman’s victory.

During the Olympiad, participants from various countries tackled complex chemistry problems and competed for the highest scores. In the end, it was the Ukrainian student who won the gold medal. At the awards ceremony, Roman Kozak unfurled the Ukrainian flag, representing his country on the international stage. “We sincerely congratulate him on this outstanding achievement! This is the result of hard work and the support of teachers and parents. Thank you to everyone who stood by Roman on his path to victory,” said Myroslav Biletsky.

He also emphasized that the student’s success is a source of pride not only for Transcarpathia but for all of Ukraine. The International Chemistry Olympiad in Uzbekistan brought together young scientists from dozens of countries around the world. This year, 360 students from more than 90 countries participated in the competition.

Roman Kozak’s victory marks yet another success for Ukrainian students in international academic competitions. Despite challenging conditions, students continue to represent Ukraine and achieve outstanding results in global competitions.
