Tandir's sentencing hearing was postponed due to an air raid alert

The hearing in the case of former judge Oleksiy Tandir regarding a fatal traffic accident at a checkpoint has been rescheduled for September 15. The hearing was postponed due to an air raid alert. Tandir was brought to court under guard.

It is reported that Tandir was brought to court under escort. His attorney stated that he would join the hearing online once the air raid alert had ended.

The court adjourned the hearing until September 15 at 12:30 p.m. A motion to recuse Judge Ivan Bandura is scheduled to be considered at that time.

If the court grants the motion, the case will proceed with a different judge. If the motion is denied, Tandir will be given the final word, after which the court will issue its ruling on the case.

This was reported by Suspilne.

Former Judge Tandir is among those suspected of real estate fraud.

The court extended the detention of former judge Tandir and set bail at over ₴119 million.

As a reminder, on the night of May 26, Oleksiy Tandir, the intoxicated chief judge of the Makariv District Court in Kyiv Oblast, fatally struck a 23-year-old National Guard officer at a checkpoint.

On May 27, the High Council of Justice approved Tandyra’s continued detention. The Court of Appeals, to which Tandyra had appealed, subsequently upheld the preventive measure.
