The US Postpones Trilateral Talks with Ukraine and Russia Due to the War with Iran

The trilateral talks of the delegations of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia, scheduled for this week, are being postponed at the request of the American side.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that currently all attention of the partners is focused on the situation surrounding Iran. The head of state emphasized Ukraine’s readiness for a meeting at any moment in a realistic format that would contribute to ending the war.

During a briefing with the negotiation team, plans of Russia identified by intelligence were discussed. Zelensky instructed that the American side be informed of Ukraine’s readiness to work together for security, particularly in defending against strike drones. The President noted that Russia is trying to turn the conflict in the Middle East into a second front of its aggression against Ukraine and the entire West. According to him, the enemy must not be given opportunities to coordinate their actions.

The next round of trilateral peace talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia could take place in Europe. Among the possible locations mentioned by President Zelensky are Switzerland, Turkey, Austria, or the Vatican.

Official representatives of the European Commission stated that Russia is using any pretext, including the security situation in the Middle East, to postpone the next round of peace negotiations with Ukraine.
