The Ministry of Defense has introduced a new basic contract for non-combat positions in the Defense Forces
As part of the transformation of the Defense Forces, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has introduced a new basic contract for military personnel in non-combat roles.
The new contract format applies to military personnel serving as clerks, accountants, foremen, cooks, and other specialists in logistical and administrative support.
These are positions that do not belong to infantry, assault, or combat units.
The basic contract is for 24 months and is available to both active-duty service members and those subject to military conscription.
Upon its completion, a 6-month deferment is provided.
Additional deferrals may be granted as follows: +1 day for each day of combat duty, +1 month for each year of service prior to 2022.
Minimum pay structure: base rate—20,000 UAH, additional compensation—up to 10,000 UAH.
Thus, total income will amount to at least 30,000 UAH.
Payments are also provided for first-time contracts—27,000–33,000 UAH—and an annual health allowance starting at 20,000 UAH.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that service members may be deployed on combat missions, in which case pay will be based on the standards for combat or infantry-assault contracts, depending on the level of participation.
The ministry noted that the introduction of the new contract system is a step toward the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s full transition to a professional contract model, which is intended to ensure the army’s long-term sustainability and effectiveness in the context of modern warfare.
