The first verdict under the relevant article of the Criminal Code was handed down in May 2022. It concerns violations of the laws and customs of war, which have been officially designated as war crimes since 2024.
According to the investigation, at least 30 of those convicted are Ukrainian citizens who acted on the side of the Russian occupiers.
Their crimes include torture, unlawful detention, forced eviction, looting, and passing information to the enemy.
As a reminder, in Ukraine, charges have been filed against the organizers of the deportation of over 200 children from Donetsk Oblast.
Additionally, three Russian military personnel have been charged with the murder of a civilian in Hostomel.
