In Bila Tserkva, a man threatened to blow up a car dealership
In Bila Tserkva, a 52-year-old man walked into a car dealership, got behind the wheel of an SUV, and began threatening to use explosives. Police officers evacuated the people and detained the man. No explosive devices were found on him, but he now faces up to six years in prison.
The incident occurred at one of Bila Tserkva’s official car dealerships. According to police, the 52-year-old man entered the dealership and got behind the wheel of an SUV. He then began threatening to use explosives and stated that he could detonate them right inside the building.
The car dealership’s director alerted law enforcement to the situation. “In the city of Bila Tserkva, at one of the official car dealerships, the suspect announced his intention to detonate an explosive device inside the building,” police reported.
Patrol officers arrived at the scene. To avoid potential danger, they evacuated people from the building. The man was detained and handed over to officers from the Bila Tserkva District Police Department.
No explosives were found
After the arrest, the car dealership premises were searched by K-9 units. The search revealed no explosive devices. Nevertheless, law enforcement officials opened a criminal case regarding the man’s threats.
The man was notified of the charges
The detainee was placed in a temporary detention facility. “The man was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention facility,” the police stated. Investigators, under the procedural supervision of the Bila Tserkva District Prosecutor’s Office, notified the man that he was suspected of violating Part 1 of Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — knowingly making a false report about the preparation of an explosion or other actions that could endanger human life or cause serious consequences.
Under this article, the man faces up to six years in prison. The investigation is currently ongoing. Law enforcement officials are establishing all the circumstances of the incident. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv Oblast.
As a reminder, the Pryluky City and District Court in Chernihiv Oblast sentenced a former police officer to eight years in prison for a fatal traffic accident that resulted in the death of a six-year-old child.
