Bolt explained the sharp rise in taxi fares during air raid alerts

During air raid alerts, blackouts, or heavy downpours, the cost of rides on taxi services can spike sharply due to an imbalance between supply and demand. During such periods, the number of passenger orders increases by 20–50%, while some drivers, on the other hand, end their shifts or go offline.

To restore market balance, the system automatically increases the dynamic coefficient, which encourages drivers to move to areas with high demand. At the same time, the company emphasizes that this coefficient cannot rise indefinitely, as excessively high prices will cause passengers to cancel their trips.

Currently, the service does not anticipate a sharp increase in base fares in the near future, although the cost of services continues to be affected by inflation, vehicle maintenance costs, and fluctuations in fuel prices.

The Bolt management team in Ukraine shared this information in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

Starting February 20 at 12:00 a.m., the Bolt ride-hailing service resumed 24/7 operations in 24 more cities across Ukraine.

The taxi reform in Ukraine has received support from Uklon and Bolt.
