Claims regarding an alleged influx of migrant workers in Ukraine are unfounded.
This was stated by the head of the State Migration Service of Ukraine, Nataliia Naumenko, according to the Communications Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to her, statements circulating in the public sphere about an alleged mass influx of migrant workers from Asian and African countries lack factual basis. She emphasized that the migration situation in Ukraine remains under control, and talk of “uncontrolled labor migration” is a simplification and distortion of the actual situation.
The State Migration Service notes that currently there are no signs of a sharp or systematic increase in the number of foreign migrant workers. At the same time, it is emphasized that the key factor in current migration processes remains the full-scale war, which has caused a massive displacement of Ukrainian citizens abroad.
The State Migration Service also stresses that its assessment of migration processes is based exclusively on official statistics and analytics, rather than on emotional or politicized claims.
On May 14, an online petition was registered on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, proposing the introduction of mandatory integration standards for migrant workers and tighter control over migration policy.
The recent escalation of anti-immigration rhetoric in Ukraine is an attempt to influence public sentiment and destabilize the situation at home. According to experts, such disinformation campaigns may be aimed at intensifying internal tensions and discrediting mobilization efforts.
