Dnipro Will Spend More Than €21 Million on Upgrading Its Electric Transit System
Dnipro plans to modernize its public electric transit fleet, allocating more than €21 million for this purpose. As part of the project, the city will purchase five new trams and 15 low-floor trolleybuses.
The procurement is part of a program implemented by the Ministry of Recovery, Infrastructure, and Transport in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance.
The first five trams have already been manufactured in Dnipro by the Ukrainian manufacturer “Tatra-Yug.” The new vehicles will operate, in particular, along the city’s first barrier-free route.
“Modernizing urban transit directly impacts the quality of people’s daily lives. In Dnipro, thanks to cooperation with the European Investment Bank, the city is receiving modern low-floor trams and trolleybuses that will operate on key routes, including along the city’s first barrier-free route,” said Mykola Kalashnyk, Ukraine’s Minister of Recovery, Infrastructure, and Transport.
He emphasized that the project also supports Ukrainian manufacturers: the new trams are manufactured in Dnipro with a localization rate of up to 70%, and more than 100 Ukrainian companies are involved in the production process.
Three more trams and maintenance equipment are planned for purchase in the next phase.
In 2026–2027, Dnipro will also receive 15 “Dnipro T-203” trolleybuses with autonomous driving capabilities. Upon completion of the project, the share of modern low-floor trolleybuses in the city will increase to 65%.
