Two suspects have been charged in connection with the beating of a veteran in Kyiv
In Kyiv, law enforcement authorities have formally charged a serviceman from the territorial recruitment center and a member of a local community volunteer unit. The case involves the assault of a veteran, which, according to the investigation, took place in the capital. Following investigative actions, the individuals involved in the incident were officially notified of their status as suspects in the commission of a criminal offense.
Charges were filed against two participants in the conflict
Investigators from the Shevchenkivskyi Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor’s office, notified a 35-year-old servicemember of the Shevchenkivskyi District Territorial Recruitment and Mobilization Center and a 38-year-old member of a territorial community volunteer unit of the charges against them.
Their actions were classified under Part 1 of Article 125 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—intentional infliction of minor bodily harm.
The conflict arose during a document check
The incident occurred on May 21 on Stetsenko Street in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv.
According to police, a TCC patrol was conducting a check of military registration documents. During the interaction between the patrol members and the driver, a conflict arose regarding military service.
The veteran sustained minor bodily injuries
According to the investigation, during the altercation, one of the servicemen struck the man several times with his hands.
In addition, a member of the volunteer unit used tear gas against the veteran.
According to the forensic medical examination, the victim sustained bruises classified as minor bodily injuries.
Law enforcement officials are currently continuing the pre-trial investigation and establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
