Zelenskyy Discussed Air Defense and Preparations for the Use of Gripen Fighter Jets with the Swedish Prime Minister
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson focused on countering Russian combined and ballistic strikes.
According to Zelenskyy, protection against Russian air attacks is a key factor that will prevent the enemy from prolonging the war.
The parties paid particular attention to actively preparing infrastructure, training pilots, and the future deployment of Swedish Gripen fighter jets in Ukraine. The leaders called this strengthening of combat aviation and cooperation within the framework of the Drone Deal security initiative a historic step. Following the conversation, the officials thanked each other for their support and agreed to continue bilateral contacts.

Ukraine and Sweden have signed an agreement to purchase 16 state-of-the-art Gripen E fighter jets.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine would allocate part of the 90 billion euro financial aid package from the European Union to defense needs, specifically for the purchase of Gripen fighter jets from Sweden. According to the head of state, the funding will help strengthen Ukraine’s defense and modernize its aviation capabilities.
Following inspections in May, the two largest payment terminal networks—EasyPay (LLC “FC ‘Kontraktovy Dom’”) and City24 (LLC “Swift Garant”)—were hit with massive fines: 135 million hryvnias each.
