A soldier's car was stolen in Kyiv and put up for sale
In Kyiv, police detained a 33-year-old man suspected of illegally taking possession of a car belonging to a Ukrainian soldier. According to the investigation, he gained access to the car’s keys and documents, initially used the vehicle, and then decided to sell someone else’s car online. Law enforcement officers found the car and returned it to its owner.
A resident of Kyiv’s Desnianskyi District reported the car theft to the police. Her husband, who is defending Ukraine on the front lines, had left his Citroën near a high-rise building. The owner had asked an acquaintance to give his wife the car keys and documents. According to the investigation, the man agreed to help but later decided to take advantage of the situation for his own gain.
According to the Kyiv police, the suspect initially drove the car for his own personal use. Later, he decided to make money off the car and posted an ad online to sell it. “At first, the suspect drove the car for his own needs, and then posted an ad online to sell it with the intention of making some extra money,” law enforcement officials said.
Police located the suspect
Investigators identified the man and determined his whereabouts. According to police, he turned out to be a 33-year-old military servicemember who had deserted his unit. Law enforcement officers detained the man and seized the car. The car has already been returned to its rightful owner.

A pretrial investigation has been launched into the unlawful seizure of the vehicle under Part 2 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The detainee has been notified of the charges against him. If his guilt is proven in court, he could face up to eight years in prison. At this time, the investigation and the court will make the final determination regarding the man’s actions. The mere fact that he has been notified of the charges does not mean that his guilt has already been established.
What is known about the situation
According to investigators, the man obtained the car keys and documents legally—the owner had asked an acquaintance to pass them on to his wife. However, instead of doing so, the car was used without the owner’s permission, and an attempt was later made to sell it. Police identified the suspect in a timely manner and located the vehicle. Law enforcement officials must now determine all the circumstances of the case and investigate the suspect’s actions. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Police.
Law enforcement officials uncovered a scheme involving the illegal extraction of minerals at a deposit near Uzhhorod. According to the investigation, the state suffered losses of over 949.8 million hryvnias, and four participants in the scheme—including a deputy of the Transcarpathian Regional Council—have already been notified of the charges against them.
