In Lutsk, the organizers of a scheme to evade mobilization by using fake disability claims were convicted

In Lutsk, the City and District Court of Volyn Oblast sentenced two men who, for 9,200 U.S. dollars, organized a scheme to illegally grant disability status to men subject to military service.

Both defendants entered into plea agreements, were each sentenced to five years in prison and fined 178,500 hryvnias, but were granted probation for one year.

The scheme had been operating since 2023 and was based on the fabrication of false medical documents, including fictitious medical records detailing alleged treatments and examinations. Under this scheme, in August 2024, one of the conscripts, who was acting under the supervision of law enforcement officers, received a certificate confirming a Group III disability status in order to subsequently apply for a deferment at the Territorial Military Registration and Enlistment Office. The investigation established that the defendants also advised other clients and helped them create fake medical records.

The court found the men guilty under articles concerning the receipt of unlawful benefits for influencing the decision-making of public officials and obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special period. Until the verdict becomes final, the convicted men will remain under house arrest.

This is stated in the judgment of the Lutsk City and District Court of Volyn Oblast.
