A Russian military intelligence agent who was directing strikes was exposed in Rivne
The Counterintelligence Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine has detained another agent of Russia’s GRU in Rivne. The individual turned out to be a former factory worker from the Donetsk region who had been recruited by the enemy and had traveled to western Ukraine to coordinate airstrikes.
This was reported by the SBU press service.
According to the case file, the suspect came to the attention of Russian intelligence when, after being laid off, he sought “easy money” through Telegram channels. Soon after, the agent received a task from his handler in Russia to travel to the Rivne region to gather coordinates of potential “targets.”
The Russians focused particularly on defense industry enterprises and Ukrainian troop concentrations. Upon arriving in the regional capital, the agent checked into a hotel and, following each briefing from his handler, used taxis for reconnaissance trips.

During his trips, he took photographs from the car of objects that, in his opinion, could be involved in defense contracts or used to base troops. In particular, the agent attempted to identify the locations of mobile fire groups, radar stations, and anti-aircraft missile systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that defend the airspace of the western region.
SBU officers documented the agent’s actions and apprehended him in the act as he was photographing the facade of a facility with his phone. During a search, a smartphone was seized containing the coordinates of Ukrainian facilities on Google Maps, which he intended to transmit to the Russian GRU.
SBU investigators informed the suspect of his suspicion of treason under martial law. The perpetrator is being held in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Earlier, the Security Service and the National Police thwarted new attempts by the occupiers to organize a series of explosions in Kharkiv.
