Former UAF President Andriy Pavelko was detained in Slovakia
Andriy Pavelko, the former president of the Ukrainian Football Association, was detained in Bratislava; Ukrainian law enforcement authorities had been searching for him in connection with a case involving losses of nearly 295 million hryvnias incurred by the Ukrainian Football Federation.
According to the investigation, Pavelko organized a scheme to siphon funds from the Federation through commercial entities under his control. To this end, fictitious contracts were drawn up for the supply of seafood, premium teas, coffee, and electrical equipment, none of which were actually delivered.
The Office of the Prosecutor General has already initiated extradition proceedings. A letter has been sent to the competent authorities in Slovakia stating the intention to request the detainee’s extradition and to seek his pretrial detention.
According to law enforcement officials, the arrest was the result of cooperation between Ukrainian and Slovak authorities within the framework of international legal cooperation.

Andriy Pavelko, former president of the Ukrainian Football Association, has been added to the list of wanted persons.
As a reminder, Pavelko won a case against Ukraine in the European Court of Human Rights.
An audit also revealed the disappearance of 1.7 billion hryvnias from the UAF during Pavelko’s presidency.
