In Ternopil, students will attend school six days a week
Schools in the Ternopil community have introduced a six-day school week. Until the end of the first semester, students—with the exception of first-graders—will also attend school on Saturdays.
This decision applies not only to schools in Ternopil but also to schools in the villages that are part of the Ternopil community. At the same time, winter break for students will be longer—almost a month.
In the first half of the school year, students will attend school on 10 Saturdays in September, October, and December. Classes on these days will alternate between in-person and remote formats. The Department of Education told ZAXID.NET that each Saturday, students will make up for a specific day of the week.
The tentative schedule will look like this:
September 5: make up for December 14 (in-person);
September 12: make up for December 14 (remotely);
September 19: December 15 (in-person);
September 26 – for December 16 (remotely);
October 3 – December 17 (in-person);
October 10 – December 18 (remotely);
October 17 – December 21 (in-person);
October 24 – December 22 (online);
December 5–December 23 (in-person);
December 12–December 24 (remote learning).
Thanks to the rescheduling of some school days to Saturdays, students will be able to start their winter break earlier—on December 14. The break will last until January 10, 2027.
Also scheduled for the school year are:
fall break – from October 26 to November 1;
winter break—from December 14 to January 10;
spring break—from March 22 to 28.
The first semester will run from September 1 to December 25, and the second from January 11 to May 29.
City officials noted that Saturday classes were introduced so that children could start their winter break sooner.
