In Zvyagel, six children and two adults were hospitalized after being poisoned by fast food

In the town of Zvyagel in the Zhytomyr region, six children aged 1.5 to 17 and two adults were hospitalized in the infectious diseases ward of a general hospital with a diagnosis of “intestinal infection.”

According to preliminary data, all patients became ill after eating fast food at one of the local restaurants. The victims were admitted for inpatient treatment on June 22.

In connection with the mass food poisoning incident, juvenile prosecutors have already opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 325 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for violations of sanitary rules and regulations regarding the prevention of infectious diseases. More than 20 schoolchildren from the Ternopil region were poisoned while on vacation at a hotel in the Bukovel resort. Four children in serious condition were hospitalized in the infectious diseases ward of the Yaremche City Hospital. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated.

In the village of Polianytsia, the “NACIKU” hotel was fined approximately 350,000 hryvnias for violating a temporary ban on the sale of food products, which resulted in five children from Kyiv seeking medical attention. The establishment continued to serve food to guests despite an order from the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, which was issued during the investigation into an outbreak of acute intestinal infection.
