Ukraine will switch to daylight saving time at the end of March
On the night of Sunday, March 29, 2026, Ukraine will switch to daylight saving time. At 3:00 a.m. Kyiv time, the clock should be set forward by one hour — to 4:00 a.m.
Clock changes have been observed in the country for over 40 years — on the last Sunday of March and the last Sunday of October.
Seasonal time changes were first introduced for Ukrainians in 1981 in the USSR. In Ukraine, daylight saving and standard time were unified in the 1990s by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 509 of May 13, 1996, “On the Procedure for Calculating Time in Ukraine.”
In July 2024, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law to abolish seasonal time changes, keeping only standard time, but President Volodymyr Zelensky did not sign it. Therefore, Ukraine currently continues the traditional clock changes.
Medical advice after switching to daylight saving time:
Limit physical and mental exertion during the first week after moving the clock forward.
Stimulate your nervous system with a morning contrast shower.
People with chronic illnesses or high blood pressure should monitor their health carefully for 2–3 weeks.
Go to bed 1.5 hours earlier and spend more time outdoors; don’t skip evening walks.
Limit coffee, black tea, and alcohol; replace them with green or herbal tea.
Pay attention to your diet: in spring, the body lacks vitamins, so it is recommended to consume up to 400 g of fruits and vegetables per day.
Following these simple rules will help you adapt more easily to the new rhythm and reduce the stress effects on your body.
It is worth noting that the popularity of March 8 in Ukraine has sharply declined: according to a Rating Group survey, only 45% of respondents plan to celebrate this day in 2026. For comparison, in 2021 the holiday was supported by an overwhelming majority of citizens — 68%.
