A Ukrainian woman living in the U.S. complained about the healthcare system there
Alona Korobskaya, a Ukrainian woman who has been living in the U.S. for four years, shared her experience with the American healthcare system. According to her, the healthcare system has been one of her biggest disappointments since moving there.
She claims that getting quality and timely care in the U.S. is difficult even with health insurance, and many doctors, in her opinion, rely more on medication than on identifying the root causes of health issues.
Ukrainian blogger Alona Korobskaya, who has been living in the United States for several years, spoke emotionally about the American healthcare system.
According to her, healthcare has been one of the most challenging issues for her since moving to the U.S. She admits she still can’t get used to the local rules and doesn’t understand how so many immigrants have managed to navigate this system for years. “Immigrants living in the U.S., I don’t know how you survive here. But honestly, healthcare has really gotten to me here,” Alona said.
The blogger believes that getting prompt and quality medical care in America is much harder than many people think. In her opinion, even in a country with a strong economy, the healthcare system has serious problems. “What economy, how much money there is here. But they’ve built such a failed healthcare system. Absolutely no one here will help you with anything,” she stated.
Separately, the woman expressed dissatisfaction with the doctors’ work. According to her, appointments often last only a few minutes, and patients are frequently offered medication right away. “Doctors here have one goal. When you come in for an appointment and the doctor has 10 minutes for you, his goal is to get you on medication as quickly as possible on a permanent basis,” the Ukrainian woman believes.
At the same time, this is the blogger’s personal assessment and her own experience with medical services in the U.S. Korobska also pointed out the high cost of treatment. According to her, even people with insurance are often forced to pay large additional sums for tests, consultations, or surgeries.
This applies, in particular, to MRIs, ultrasounds, and other diagnostic procedures. “So, unfortunately, I don’t know how you survive here. But for me, healthcare is just brutal. I don’t know how people live here,” she said.
Another complaint from the blogger concerns treatment approaches.
According to her, when patients come in with various complaints, they are often prescribed antidepressants. Alona says that because of this, she frequently seeks alternative options for consultations. In particular, she turns to specialists from other countries or consults online with Ukrainian doctors.
American healthcare has been a topic of debate for many years, even among U.S. residents themselves. Some praise the high level of technology and modern equipment, while others criticize the system for the high cost of treatment, a complex insurance system, and long wait times for certain services. That is why stories of people who move to the U.S. and encounter the local healthcare system for the first time regularly spark lively discussions on social media.
In the case of Alona Korobskaya, her candid account quickly caught the attention of her followers and sparked a new discussion about the pros and cons of the American healthcare system. She shared her thoughts on Instagram.
