Ukrposhta is launching a network of parcel lockers and updating its mobile app

The national postal operator, Ukrposhta, is implementing major changes to improve service and reduce lines at post offices.

The company’s CEO, Ihor Smilianskyi, announced the launch of new features, including a network of postal kiosks and an update to the digital platform.

The first stage of the reform will involve installing about 70 parcel lockers in Kyiv and another 30 in Odesa.

This will allow a significant portion of parcels to be redirected from traditional branches to self-service points, which will substantially reduce the number of visitors.

The second key element of the strategy is the update of the mobile app to the “Ukrposhta 2.0” version.

Now customers will be able to “manage their shipments independently without having to visit a branch,” which will save users a significant amount of time.

The app’s features allow users to redirect a package to a parcel locker or another branch, change the recipient’s information, and extend the storage period.

A particular advantage is that “redirecting to a parcel locker will be free if the parcel has not yet arrived at the branch.”

This option also applies to orders from popular international marketplaces such as AliExpress and Temu.

For packages that have already arrived at the original address, changing the pickup location is also possible, but will be charged at the standard rate. This gives customers a choice: pick up the package in person or order delivery to a more convenient location.

The free storage period for a package in a parcel locker is up to seven days.

If the customer does not pick up the package on time, “it will be delivered to the nearest branch” to ensure the safety of the property and free up the locker for other users.
